Why did Response Plus Medical Decide to Acquire UK-based Prometheus?

Highlights

  • RPM broadens its reach to global oil majors and defense providers, complementing Prometheus’s clientele and expertise

  • RPM’s acquisition boosts its training capabilities, offering emergency consultancy and remote health services globally

Response Plus Medical (RPM), a subsidiary of Response Plus Holding PJSC, the largest pre-hospital medical services provider in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has acquired Prometheus Medical. Prometheus is based in the UK and part of Safeguard Medical, a global provider of innovative emergency medical technologies and first responder training.

This acquisition extends RPM’s coverage to global oil majors and reputable defense providers, including clients like Shell, Chevron, Aker BP, Royal Flight of Oman, U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS), and the British Armed Services.

With the incorporation of Prometheus, Response Plus Medical aims to enhance its training capabilities and broaden its services to include health consultancy for emergency planning and response. The acquisition also facilitates RPM’s entry into the United Kingdom and the Nordic market region, establishing a comprehensive solution for emergency advice, training, and remote health services.

As part of the transaction, Response Plus Medical will serve as a distributor for US-based Safeguard Medical’s trauma care and simulation products for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as India. RPM also plans to implement a comprehensive strategy to consolidate all areas of pre-hospital healthcare services under one umbrella. Response Plus Medical seeks to fund the acquisition through a combination of financing and internal accruals. It is expected to provide RPM with inorganic revenue along with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) growth on a run-rate basis.

Dr Rohil Raghavan, CEO of RPM, said “The strategic acquisition of Prometheus not only enhances our capability to deliver top-tier healthcare services to valued clients in diverse and innovative fields but also expands our global footprint.”
