Partnership Between Qatar University and the Ministry of Public Health to Healthcare Education

Highlights

· Qatar University and the Ministry of Public Health join forces to advance healthcare education and research, focusing on enhancing the Qatar Medical Specialties Certificate.

· This partnership aims to leverage digital transformation, raise healthcare standards, and improve the skills of medical professionals in Qatar.

As part of this forward-looking cooperation, the MoPH and QU have also taken steps. This will embrace digital transformation in the healthcare education landscape. By the standards of the Qatari Board, the use of online hosting services for question banks will be started. Facilitating online medical specialisation certificate exams will demonstrate a commitment to staying abreast of technological advances. This will promote accessibility in medical education and evaluation processes.

In light of these advancements, Prof.Asma Al Thani, vice president for health and medical sciences, emphasised the importance of this relationship in bridging the gap between healthcare provider competencies and health education. Prof. Al Thani said that “MoU is an important step towards enhancing health services. This will raise educational standards to satisfy local requirements adequately”.

With assistance from the MoPH and other local authorities, the Qatar Medical Specialties Certificate was introduced in July 2020. It has been crucial in improving medical education for healthcare professionals in Qatar. The certificate programme has had a favourable effect on the nation’s healthcare system’s level of quality.

With five prestigious colleges—the College of Health Sciences, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Medicine, the College of Dental Medicine, and the College of Nursing—Quaker University’s health and medical sciences division ranks as one of the area’s most well-known academic health sectors. With such an extensive and varied academic portfolio, QU is well-positioned to enhance medical research and teaching in Qatar significantly.

In conclusion, the MoU inked by MoPH and QU marks a turning point in the history of Qatari healthcare and medical education. With QU’s experience and resources enhancing its impact, this partnership promises to take the Qatar Medical Specialties Certificate to new heights. By merging efforts and accepting digital innovation, this cooperation will likely elevate the skills of medical professionals. It will enhance the overall well-being and health of Qatar’s population. This will raise the benchmark for digital innovation.
